What to Watch in July

Sorry for this post being so late but better late than never right 😎

This month we have our beastly idol ,Taecyeon, headlining our fantasy horror-comedy Bring It On Ghost with Kim So Hyun. I love both of them and they look very good together in the trailers.

Taecyeon plays a college student that can see ghost and ends up living with a ghost, played by Kim So Hyun. He uses his ghost fighting talents to earn himself some extra cash while Kim So Hyun helps him out.

I am definitely watching this. There is a total of 16 episode and started airing July 11.

This is Taecyeon last drama before he heads to the army so let’s hope this drama gets mega popular.

W-Two Worlds is a fantasy suspense romantic drama about a rookie surgeon (Han Hyo Joo) whose webtoon artist father goes missing. However she finds out that the main character in her father’s work, an olympic athlete chaebol boy genius (Lee Jong Seok) has come to life. Han Hyo Joo believes that in finding more about this fictional character will reveal more about where her father has gone.

Miss Han Hyo Joo so much. Haven’t seen her in dramaland ever since Brilliance Legacy.

Wanted– This stars Kim Ah Joong who plays a top- actress in Korea that has to follow directions from a criminal in a live reality tv show in order to find her kidnapped son.

This seems like an amazing thriller and reminds me a bit like Liar Game. I heard this was exciting and has been garnering many raves. I definitely want to check this out some time ( after I finish up Beautiful Bride)

Sukina Hito ga Iru Koto aka A Girl And Three Sweethearts This one should be a cute romantic fluffy drama. It’s about Mirei Kiritani who meets her first love from high school (Shohei Miura). She ends up working part-time at his restaurant and soon meets his equally awesome brothers played by Shuhei Nomura and Kento Yamazaki.

Hapimari  aka Happy Marriage!? This is another manga turned into drama that was originally written my Maki Enjoji. It’s about an office lady (Seino Nana) who works part-time at a club because she is in debt. She gets into a quarrel with a wealthy and handsome customer (Dean Fujioka) and is fired. The next day the rude customer proposes a contract marriage with her and even though she initially resisted the idea, she has no choice to accept it.

Of course I am watching this for Dean Fujioka. The only other drama I watched with Dean was Shanghai Sweetheart and I was so disappointed with his character there but I have high hopes for this one. The story plot is a recipe for success.

Just One Smile is Very Alluring– This is one of those cute campus couple dramas that was originally adapted from a novel by Gu Man. It stars Zheng Shuang and Yang Yang and they looks oh so incredibly awesome together. They fall in love due to playing video game together. Handsome boy paired with an equally beautiful girl that are both very popular in Chinese entertainment.

check out the cheesy yet alluring trailer below: I’ve already seen the trailer a couple times and it still makes me want to squeal out loud.

Another campus romance So Young starring the Chen Yao and Yang Le. I’m mainly watching this because of the leads. Absolutely loved Chen Yao from Monster Killer. Her role as an evil spirit was captivating an unforgettable. I will definitely be watching her as she takes on different roles in her career.

So apparently this drama was shot in 3 different cities in Italy ( Milan, Florence, and Lucca) and 5 different cities in China ( Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Beijing, Wuyuan). So we can expect lots of amazing scenery.

九州·天空城 aka Novoland: The Castle In The Sky.  I am watching this for Guang Xiao Tong. First saw her in the first season of the Chinese remake of the reality tv show Amazing Race. Then saw her in Better Man and was blown away by her performance as a rebellious teenager. She has a snarky voice and is quick to talk back to the elders. Her protrayal of that character was just so on point. I even felt her acting was better than Jiang Shu Ying but that’s just my opinion as Shu Ying’s popularity dramatically rose after the drama. I was also very surprised to find out that Guang Xiao Tong has a gazillion of dramas  under her belt. I am curious as to how her acting would be like playing a different character.

So back to The Castle in the Sky. It’s a fantasy drama in ancient times where human and winged clan coexisted. The winged clan was revered by humans for their ability to fly and build structures in the sky. On the day where a castle was to be set off into the sky, an explosion destroyed everything. Evidence points to a human girl committing the crime but it turns out that a faction of the wing clan was trying to instigate a war with human to gain more power. Guang Xiao Tong plays the human girl and has her life saved by Zhang Ruo Yun,a member of the winged clan.

I am expecting lots of romance from this.Oh and btw the main lead Zhang Ruo Yun is the officer that was totally entranced by the evil spirit in Monster Killer and became her loyal slave.

I usually hate those fantasy dramas with those horrendous wigs, fake scenery that looks like they made the entire scene with foam boards, and horrible fight scenes. But I watched the trailer and it looked so beautiful. Let’s see how long I can stomach the low quality computer graphics before calling it quits. Check out the theme song from the drama that I have already fell in love with:

This month there are tons of movies that I want to watch

Three aka 三人行 is an action movie starring Louis Koo, Wallace Chung and Vicki Zhao. Wallace plays thug that was released from prison. Louis Koo is a police officer that keeps tracing him in order to find more about their narcotic business. While surrounded, wallace shoots himself in order to force the cops to take him to the hospital. At the hospital, he refuses treatment in order to bide time for his underlings to rescue him. Vicki Zhao plays a surgeon.

I believe there’s a question of morality and ethicality being questioned in the movie. I’m not sure because the trailer is a bit vague. But it’s this unanswered questions that makes me want to watch this. Wallace looks downright crazy in the trailer.

check out the trailer below:

Bounty Hunters– Just one of those romantic action comedies with top top top actors including my favorite Tiffany Tang, Lee Min Ho, and Wallace Chung.

My parents already watched it and hated it. I might have a different feeling to it. Won’t know until I watch it.

Summer’s Desire Movie Adaption. I watched the taiwanese drama adaption years ago and hated the drama to bits. It was totally responsible for the reason why I avoided watching anything related to Huang Xiao Ming. Because he played the dark character so well that I absolutely loathed him. All three character are caught in this love hatred triangle where every one is in pain.

Gigi Leung is the producer. Newcomer Huang Can Can plays Yin Xia Mo our female lead(Barbie Hsu’s role) . The good looking Him Law plays Ou Chen, (Peter Ho’s role). And  Yan Yu Hao plays the dark and dangerous Luo Xi (Huang Xiao Ming role).

For those who haven’t watched it or know the synopsis I grabbed the synopsis from wiki: The story may revolve around summer’s desire, but it is really a love triangle between three people colder than winter itself. Yin Xia Moa girl loved by two men. Luo Xi was an orphan who garnered fame and fortune with his infallible charisma. Even though others believed him to be kind and smart, he was really a cold, ruthless, and wicked man who manipulated others to get what he wanted. When he was introduced into Xia Mo’s family, he fooled everyone with his sweet words-except for Xia Mo, who only saw the con artist in him. Ou Chen is a rich heir whom everyone feared, and was extremely overprotective of his high school girlfriend Yin Xia Mo. When he found out that Luo Xi was living with her, he became extremely jealous. This started a chain of events-as both boys were in love with Xia Mo, but their love for her was so all-consuming that they started a war to have her. Five years ago, Luo Xi lost and was sent away to England. Yet, Ou Chen didn’t win as his action caused him to lose Xia Mo’s favor and his own memory. Five years later, they met again. Would history repeat itself, and would the desires of summer enter their wintry hearts?

There is this scene from the taiwanese drama that is still very vivid in my mind. Huang Xiao Ming bites Barbie Hsu as a little punishment.

The drama was just so dark and everyone was filled with hatred and anguish. However like kappy from avirtualvoyage, I don’t know how GiGi turned such a dark and gloomy theme into a bright, romantic and longing feel.

Check out the trailer below:

Train To Busan starring Gong Yoo, Ma Dong Seok, Jung Yoo Mi, Choi Woo Shik, Ahn So Hee, and Kom Soo Ahn is an action suspense thriller. It is about a virus that hits South Korea, turned humans into zombies. Passengers on a KTX train tries to escape the virus by traveling to Busan.

What are you watching this month?
